For the second year in a row, the association “For a Safe Car in Lithuania” together with the general sponsor AD Group invited the heads of the largest Lithuanian car repair shops to an event that has no analogues in our country – the forum “Car Care and Safety”, held at the Vilnius Grand Resort hotel.
The event was attended by 400 representatives of car repair shops from all over Lithuania, and 12 well-known auto parts manufacturers presented their exhibits to the forum participants.

Forum participants listen attentively to a presentation on a topical topic
The first part of the event was dedicated to visiting the exhibitions of the event sponsors. The participants were waiting for gifts prepared by the sponsors, special offers and product samples. Everyone who visited the forum had the opportunity to ask the representatives of the spare parts manufacturers a question of interest to them and hear the answers firsthand. “This event is a great opportunity to see the buyers of our products up close, to listen to their expectations and wishes. Events of this type allow us to better understand the problems faced by those people who buy our products every day,” said John Myohanen, ContiTech brand representative in the Baltic States.

Car service representatives also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the products demonstrated by BOSCH Car Service representatives: the latest generation of car diagnostic devices, battery chargers, headlight adjustment stands. During the event, participants had the opportunity to try out the demonstrated innovations and make sure that in the future such devices will become an integral part of car service.

The forum organizers also provided entertainment for the forum participants. One of them was simulators, which allowed them to see how important and inseparable car seat belts are from safe driving. After testing the simulators, the faces of the car service representatives were adorned with smiles, but this entertainment also made them think that the impact experienced during a car accident can be devastating.

A simulator emphasizing the importance of seat belts was extremely popular
The highly realistic racing simulator provided a lot of emotions to the forum participants. A homologated sports seat, a hydraulic system that accurately reproduces movements, an extremely powerful direct transmission steering mechanism, a sequential gearbox, and pedals – all of this reproduced resistance forces identical to reality and allowed them to feel the real impressions of sports driving.

The second part of the event was dedicated to educating market participants. The speakers drew the attention of the audience not only to the issue of road safety, but also touched on other equally relevant topics. Vidmantas Pumputis, a representative of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, presented the work on improving road safety. A lot of emotions were aroused by the report of Žygimantas Mauricas, Chief Economist of Nordea Bank, during which an attempt was made to answer the provocative question: “Lithuania: a country of prosperity or misery”. Gytis Kaminskas, a lawyer and partner at TGS Law Firm, drew the attention of the audience to the legal aspects of a permit to engage in car repair services. Tomas Kolendo, a representative of the State Road Transport Inspectorate, presented the procedure and practice for handling complaints. Much attention was paid to the relationship between car repair shops and customers, and the analysis of specific cases. T. Kolendo revealed what details car repair shop representatives should pay attention to in order not to violate the established rules. As many as two reports were devoted to a topic that has not been studied much in our country yet – TELEMATICS. The chairman of the Association “For a Safe Car in Lithuania” G. Garbinčius and Robert Bosch Sales Manager in the Baltic States Tomas Bučinskas predicted that in the near future all cars will be equipped with so-called “little friends” that will monitor every parameter of the car and allow centralized control of the validity of technical inspections. The biggest question that remains unanswered is who will have access to such valuable data.
Every car service representative who came to the event had the opportunity to ask a question of interest to them and receive an answer. The discussions were intense, and the event organizers sometimes had to quell the passions that flared up. Naturally, because some of the issues raised were directly related to their daily activities.

We would like to remind you that last year the association “For a Safe Car in Lithuania” organized a forum, the topic of which was “The Importance of Car Repair Shops for Road Safety in Lithuania”. The association aims to contribute to road safety in Lithuania, shape public opinion, make proposals for the creation of a favorable legal framework, help protect our nature, and develop the citizenship and social activism of the association’s members.
